Rack Up Two More Wins for Reutzel!

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (April 8, 2015) – Victory lane visits. It’s a good habit to get into.

And it’s something that Aaron Reutzel is getting into, with another pair of triumphs this past weekend aboard the Shark-powered BC Fundz/Basic One Services No. 87 Triple X Sprint Car already running his early season win total to six.

“It was a good weekend, can’t complain at all,” the Clute, TX, racer said.

Reutzel opened the weekend with a triumph aboard the Wren Motorsports/Momentum Racing Suspensions machine in the season-opening ASCS Red River Region event in Wichita Falls, TX, on Friday and then posted win number six the next night closer to home at Bronco Raceway Park in Cleveland, TX.

With six triumphs overall and a string of 11 consecutive top-five finishes, Reutzel and the Dissolvealloy Frac Ball Revolution team will take a weekend off before returning to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action in Moberly, MO, on April 18 and then World of Outlaws competition at Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, TX, the following weekend.

This past weekend began with Reutzel’s first visit to Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, TX. The track obviously made a good first impression on the driver of the Danny Sander Construction/ButlerBuilt entry.

“The track started off awesome, it was racy in the heats and racy in the B’s,” Reutzel said after winning his heat race from fifth.

“It did start to take some rubber though with just a few laps to go in the B Main,” Reutzel explained.

This is where strategy kicked in for the Lone Star Hydro Maintenance/Wright Way Logistics team that was scheduled to start third in the feature.

“While everyone else was loosening their car up, we tightened up like we normally would for a slick track,” Reutzel explained. “We were hoping to get out front early and then hold them off.”

Reutzel got out early in front indeed, sliding into the lead in the opening pair of corners and then wading through several cautions along the way to notch his fifth win of the year, adding the early ASCS Red River Region points lead to his current Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour points lead.

“We were fortunate to have an open red with just a few laps to go, our left rear was going down and I’m not sure we would have made it,” Reutzel said.

With Saturday’s ASCS Red River action falling by the wayside, Reutzel made his way closer to home for Saturday’s card at Bronco Raceway Park.

While Reutzel ultimately came away with his second triumph in as many Bronco Raceway Park visits and sixth overall of the year, it wasn’t without a challenge from track ace Scottie McDonald.

“We were two-tenths off Scottie’s times most of the night, we did finally get going in the A though,” Reutzel said. “We didn’t go in there and just take the money, Scottie made us work for it.”

With another pair of wins in the books, Reutzel and crew will take a weekend off to prep for some upcoming big weekends.

“We’re just gonna regroup and get everything ready for Moberly and then our first World of Outlaws race at Devil’s Bowl the weekend after that,” Reutzel concluded.

2015 Quick Stats: 18 races, 6 wins, 13 top-fives, 13 top-tens.
