Reutzel Looks to Finish off All Star Title in Kokomo Finale

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (October 5, 2018) – Aaron Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team are just one night removed from capturing the 2018 All Star Circuit of Champions title.

The pursuit that kicked off in February all comes down to Saturday night’s series finale at Indiana’s Kokomo Speedway. If weather proves necessary, a Sunday rain date is available.

With the driver’s portion of the championship already secured, Reutzel and the Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X team need a finish of 16th or better in the Kokomo finale to secure the overall team title.

“We’ll just have to play it by ear and see how the race plays out,” the driver of the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment entry said of Kokomo strategy. “If Paul (McMahan) is out front, then we’ll just have to try to maintain and get a good top-ten finish. But if he has trouble early, then we can go all out for the win.”

Reutzel’s first season of All Star Circuit of Champions competition has included plenty of wins along the way already. Nine in total in fact to top the series win charts.

Overall, Reutzel’s All Star season has included 21 top-fives and 30 top-tens that have pushed the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspensions entry to the top of the point charts in a rookie campaign.

After picking off the first of 11 overall wins on the year in World of Outlaws competition right off the bat in California, Reutzel made his first visit to All Star victory lane at Ohio’s Sharon Speedway on May 5.

And it was on from there on out with Reutzel racing to victory lane in nearly 25% of the series events since that time, including the most recent event at Ohio’s Eldora Speedway on September 22 that secured the driver portion of the championship.

Now, a finish of 16th or better on Saturday night at Kokomo Speedway accomplished the team goal before finishing out the balance of the season in World of Outlaws competition with the California’s Trophy Cup mixed in as well.

2018 Quick Stats: 68 races, 11 wins, 27 top-fives, 39 top-tens.

Next Up: All Star Circuit of Champions season finale at Kokomo (IN) Speedway on Saturday.
