Empire State Triple for Reutzel after Mansfield Prelim Win

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (June 7, 2019) – Aaron Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team had a $100,000 payday in their sights.

But Mother Nature had other ideas.

Following a Thursday night rainout, Reutzel raced to victory lane in his Friday night preliminary feature at the Sprint Car World Championship at Ohio’s Mansfield Motor Speedway to put himself in prime position for the $100,000 winner’s share on Saturday night.

However, storms on Saturday and no suitable makeup date forced the cancellation of the finale.

“It’s disappointing for sure,” Reutzel commented. “We were so close last year, that’s one we really wanted to have a shot to win.”

It’s back to All Star Circuit of Champions competition this weekend for the Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X team with a set of events in the Empire State beginning at Dundee, New York’s Outlaw Speedway on Frida night before moving on to Busti’s Stateline Speedway on Saturday and then Weedsport Speedway on Sunday.

Reutzel raced to finishes of fourth and third at Outlaw Speedway in All Star competition last year and posted a fourth-place finish at Weedsport in the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment machine.

The reigning All Star Circuit of Champions titlist enters the weekend atop the series point charts with victories in the series most recent pair of events over Memorial Day Weekend.

Reutzel ran that streak to three wins in a row with a perfect night at Mansfield Motor Speedway last Friday, setting quick time in his qualifying group and then making a last-lap move to win his heat race and then posting his fourth overall win of the season.

He looks to add to the win column this weekend in New York before embarking upon the All Stars Ohio Sprint Speedweek that features nine nights of racing over as many days beginning next Friday.

2019 Quick Stats: 26 races, 4 wins, 9 top-fives, 14 top-tens.

Next Up: All Star Circuit of Champions at Outlaw Speedway (Dundee, NY) on Friday, Stateline Speedway (Busti, NY) and Weedsport (NY) Speedway on Sunday. For those unable to attend, all three nights will be available live via PPV at www.speedshifttv.com.
